W. Ethan Smartt
A long-time Knoxville resident, Ethan graduated cum laude with a BS in Journalism and Electronic Media from the University of Tennessee and subsequently attended the University of Tennessee College of Law, where he graduated in 2012. In law school, Ethan primarily focused on business transactions and commercial law where he was recognized for Academic Excellence in Contract drafting.
Following law school, Ethan entered private practice and spent the next five years litigating criminal, domestic relations, civil rights, contract, and real estate matters in numerous courts in East and Middle Tennessee as well as in federal court. Ethan has tried bench and jury trials in multiple jurisdictions throughout Tennessee and has been nominated for the National Trial Lawyers Association’s Top 40 Under 40 for Criminal Defense in East Tennessee.
Ethan joined Greg Coleman Law PC as an associate at the end of 2017 where he has shifted the focus of his practice to representing plaintiffs in complex litigation and class actions. When he’s not in the office, you can find Ethan supporting University of Tennessee athletics, listening to live music, and enjoying the East Tennessee outdoors.
