Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) finds itself amongst the leading patient-oriented renal therapy company throughout the entire world. Administering 32 million dialysis treatments throughout more than 215,000 patients across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Latin America, the company has surely made its mark around the globe. Unfortunately, however, this widespread reach has sent millions of patients to fear for their health, as two of FMCs most prevalent dialysis drugs (GranuFlo and NaturaLyte) have been connected to numerous cases of increased disk for cardiopulmonary arrest and sudden cardiac death.
Fresenius Medical Care has a reach throughout the United States similar to that of the world. With 1,800 kidney dialysis clinics treating close to 138,000 patients, FMC is the largest provider of dialysis services and products in the country. The company has 45,000 employees and a serious responsibility to provide health services for many, many individuals across the nation.
Recent reports from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have linked a number of serious heart risks to the exposure to both GranuFlo and NaturaLyte dialysis treatments. Greg Coleman Law is currently taking on cases for any Tennessee residents who may be at risk. If you or a loved one has suffered any adverse side effects are receiving either GranuFlo or NaturaLyte dialysis treatment, you may be entitled to compensation.

FMC Had Knowledge of Dialysis Heart Risks
On March 29, 2012, the FDA issued a Class 1 recall of both GranuFlo and NaturaLyte. Class 1 recalls indicate the most serious of all recalls, as this means that the recalled product contains serious adverse health consequences or death. While the FDA made this announcement in March of 2012, leaked information suggests that the company had been aware of the health risks in GranuFlo and NaturaLyte for almost 2 years.
A case-control study was conducted by Fresenius Medical Care between January 1 and December 31 of 2010 with the purpose of determining risk factors linked from dialysis patients to cardiopulmonary arrest. At the study's conclusion, 841 patients who were treated in 667 FMC facilities suffered from cardiopulmonary arrests that ended in a fatality. The results of the data point to the dangers of these dialysis drugs. Patients studied shed light on the fact that FMC treatments made them 6 times more likely to develop cardiopulmonary arrests if they had a high level of bicarbonate prior to treatment.
After the results of the study were conclusive, all FMC physicians and facilities were sent a memo outlining what action should be taken for dialysis patients with high bicarbonate levels prior to administering any dialysis treatment. However, Fresenius Medical Care neglected to make this announcement externally. Only those internal FMC health care professionals were informed, leaving the public at large in the dark. The information only became available to the public once the memo was leaked to the FDA.
