Yaz and Yasmin linked to blood clotsFiling a Yasmin Lawsuit

If you have been injured due to the use of Yaz, Yasmin or Ocella (the generic formula), it is crucial that you seek the advice of a skilled defective drug attorney. The Yaz lawyers at Greg Coleman Law are currently reviewing potential lawsuits involving birth control. Many women have endured injuries that may be linked to these drugs. You may be eligible to recover money damages for your injuries.

Yaz Blood Clots

A recent study has been conducted involving 1.3 million Danish females taking birth control medicine, similar to Yaz and Yasmin. The results of this experiment showed that women who took new birth control containing the synthetic hormone drospirenone were at higher risk to suffer dangerous blood clots.

In a separate study of 330,000 Israeli females, findings demonstrated that women taking Yaz were also at higher risk to develop life-threatening blood clots than women taking non-drospirenone oral birth control formulas.

The most frequently-occurring type of Yaz blood clot is called thromboembolism, also known as deep vein thrombosis. Thromboembolism occurs when a blood clot forms (typically in the leg) and then breaks loose, seeping into and being carried along the blood stream. Clots caused by DVT can block the blood flow, leading to excruciating pain and severe swelling.  Often, these clots may block blood vessels in the lungs (pulmonary embolism), kidneys, and even the brain, which can end in stroke.

Side Effects of Yaz and Yasmin Birth Control

Yasmin and Yaz are two separate birth control pills which are manufactured by Bayer Healthcare in order to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Two of the more popular oral contraceptives on the market, they both contain a synthetic hormone known as drospirenone. Some of the side-effects associated to birth control pills containing drospirenone are:

  • Heart Attack
  • Pulmonary Embolism (Blood Clot in the Lungs)
  • Stroke (Blood Clot in the Brain)
  • Jaundice
  • Hypertension
  • Deep Vein Thrombosis
  • Gallbladder Diseases
  • Emotional Breakdowns
  • Difficulty Breathing
  • Sudden Death
