Early Thursday morning a truck underride accident occurred on the Midway Road ramp to Interstate 40 East. According to authorities a 1997 Acura traveling northbound on Midway Road crashed into a 2008 Freightliner rig at about 7a.m. The truck had been travelling east on I-40 and had pulled over on the ramp to Midway Road.
According to authorities the Acura was speeding and when the driver rounded a corner, the cars brakes locked and he lost control of the vehicle. The car slid underneath the rig trapping the driver.
Jeremy Luttrell, 28, was the driver of the Acura and was taken to the University Of Tennessee Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the rig was not injured nor was the passenger in the rigs sleeper compartment.
