Plagued by drugs and speeders, a South Knoxville community has taken action and created a watch program. Those living on Lester Road in the Vestal Community of South Knoxville are tired of the drug traffic and drivers who speed through the neighborhood. One resident says that many other neighbors want to implement speed bumps into the area to slow drivers down.
The Lester Road Community Watch Program was created in hopes of raising awareness about the problem as well as getting more proactive about the situation. One neighbor says that over the past five years the area has changed and he fears for his safety.
Members of the watch program are hoping that more police will come into the area in order to control the drug problem and speeders.
