NHTSA Upgrades Investigation Into Exploding Sunroofs In Kia Sorento SUVs

Following more than 90 reports from Kia Sorento owners expressing concerns over their vehicle sunroof glass unexpectedly exploding, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has upgraded its investigation into the issue, by requesting a full engineering analysis to be performed on the sunroof and associated components.

According to sources, 18 people have been injured by this exploding sunroof glass issue and if the pending analysis determines that there is a quality or engineering issue, it may lead to an eventual recall to be issued by the automaker.

Currently, more than 65,000 Kia Sorento vehicles are being investigated by the auto safety administration for a variety of quality control and component issues.
