On Monday, William Hall, who manages the Daily News Express in Madisonville was severely injured in a car accident on Highway 411. Hall had just returned from taking a friend and her daughter to Childrens Hospital when the accident occurred.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says Nicholas Steffa crossed the center line, hitting Hall's car head on. Law enforcement believes that Steffa may have been under the influence at the time of the crash.
Steffa was also seriously injured in the wreck. Both men had to be airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. Steffa remains in serious condition, while Hall is in the Cardiac Intensive Care Recovery Ward after having reconstructive surgery to his hands.
Steffa has an extensive rap sheet that includes multiple DUI arrests, marijuana possession, driving on a suspended license, burglary, aggravated assault, criminal impersonation and public intoxication, according to a Knoxville news report.
