Driver Sued Over Fatal Church Van Accident

According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, the families of Jeffrey Trussell and Courteney Kaliszewski are suing Tyler Schaeffer over the wrongful deaths of their loved ones. Each family has filed a $10 million complaint against the defendant.

Last month, thirteen members from Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Blount County were returning home from a weekend retreat when the van that they were riding in was hit by an SUV driven by Schaeffer. The impact caused the van to fall into an embankment, before it caught on fire.

Trussell and Kaliszewski were fatally injured in the crash. The other 11 passengers sustained injuries in the crash.
